Give 1-AL Syrup to your child by mouth with or without food in the dose and way prescribed by the doctor. It may be prescribed alone or in combination with other medicines. The allergic symptoms may subside after your child has taken the initial few doses of 1-AL Syrup. In case of serious allergic conditions, your child may have to continue taking the medicine for a week or two. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking this medicine, let the child calm down and give the same dose again. However, do not repeat the dose if it is already time for the next dose.
This active enantiomer of cetrizine is a potent, nonsedative and selective H1 receptor antagonist. It antagonizes the allergic symptoms produced by histamines like runny nose, cold, cough etc. It also inhibit eotaxin-induced eosinophil TEM through both dermal and lung micro vascular endothelial cells. So inhibit eosinophil chemotaxis and also inflammation caused by it.
Absorption- Well absorbed after oral administration. Distribution-Widely distributed in the body.90% bound to the plasma proteins. Metabolism- Metabolized in the liver to its metabolites. Excretion- Excreted via urine and feces.

Contraindicated 1 AL Syrup is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.

Coadministration with alcohol or other CNS depressants may have additional CNS depressant effect.
Oral- Adult-5mg/day. Children (>6yrs) - 5mg/day.
Store in a cool place.
Take the missed dose as soon as noticed and if it is the time for next dose then skip the missed dose. Continue the regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Give symptomatic and supportive treatment.
Your doctor has prescribed Levocetirizine to help relieve allergy symptoms such as itching, swelling, and rashes. As compared to other similar medications, it is much less likely to make you feel sleepy. Be cautious while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as it can cause dizziness and sleepiness. Do not drink alcohol while taking this medication as it may cause increased sleepiness. Stop taking Levocetirizine at least three days before taking an allergy test as it can affect the test results.
1 AL Syrup may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Q. My child is restless and unable to sleep properly at night. Can I give 1-AL Syrup?
No, although this medicine causes drowsiness as a side effect, it should not be given to induce sleep in children. Consult your child’s doctor if your child has trouble sleeping as it could be due to some other underlying condition.
Q. Can other medicines be given at the same time as 1-AL Syrup?
1-AL Syrup can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting 1-AL Syrup. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
Q. How much 1-AL Syrup should I give to my child?
1-AL Syrup should be given strictly as prescribed by your child’s doctor. The dose of the medicine is calculated according to your child’s body weight and age. Do not increase or decrease the dose on your own as it may cause unwanted effects and can worsen your child’s condition.
Q. What if I give too much of 1-AL Syrup by mistake?
Although 1-AL Syrup is relatively safe to use in children yet an excessive amount may cause some serious side effects such as seizures, hallucinations, rapid heart rate, irritability, slow breathing, and coma.
