4 Quin Capsule is an antibiotic, used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is also used in treating infections of the urinary tract, nose, throat, skin and soft tissues and lungs (pneumonia). It cures the infection by stopping the further growth of the causative microorganisms.


4 Quin Capsule should be used in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It may be taken with or without food, preferably at a fixed time. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. You should not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. Simply take the next dose as planned.


You may have a headache, dizziness, and nausea as side effects of this medicine. These are usually temporary and resolves on its own, but please consult your doctor if it bothers you or persists for a longer duration. Diarrhea may also occur as a side effect but should stop when your course is complete. Inform your doctor if it does not stop or if you find blood in your stools.


You should not take this medicine if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Special care should be taken in people with kidney problems while taking this medicine.

Mechanism Of Action

Moxifloxacin is bactericidal and its mode of action depends on blocking of bacterial DNA replication by binding itself to an enzyme called DNA gyrase, which allows the untwisting required to replicate one DNA double helix into two

Pharmacokinets

The pharmacokinetics of moxifloxacin were found to be linear and proportional to dose within a range of single i.v. doses of 100–400 mg , single oral doses of 50–800 mg  and repeated oral doses of 100–200 mg twice daily and 400–600 mg once daily

Contra Indications

diarrhea from an infection with Clostridium difficile bacteria.

diabetes.

low blood sugar.

low amount of potassium in the blood.

a low seizure threshold.

pseudotumor cerebri, a condition with high fluid pressure in the brain.


Pregnancy Related Information

4 Quin Capsule may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.


Product And Alcohol Interaction

Consuming alcohol with 4 Quin Capsule does not cause any harmful side effects.


Breast Feeding Related Information

4 Quin Capsule is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.


Indications

Moxifloxacin is used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria such as pneumonia, and skin, and abdominal (stomach area) infections. Moxifloxacin is also used to prevent and treat plague (a serious infection that may be spread on purpose as part of a bioterror attack

Interactions

If you are taking aluminum or magnesium-containing antacids, iron supplements, multivitamins, didanosine (Videx®), sucralfate (Carafate®), or zinc, do not take them at the same time that you take this medicine. It is best to take these medicines at least 4 hours before or 8 hours after taking moxifloxacin

4 Quin Capsule may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Effects Of Missed Dosage

If you miss a dose of 4 Quin Capsule, use it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Expert Advice

You have been prescribed 4 Quin Capsule for the treatment of bacterial infections of the eye.

Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.

Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute, immediately after instilling the medication.

Do not touch the tip to any surface, or to your eye, to avoid contamination.

Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before delivering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution.

It may cause short-term blurring of vision when first used. Use caution before driving or using machines.

Do not wear contact lenses until your infection clears up.

Make sure to use it within 4 weeks of opening the medication.
