Mechanism Of Action

Accuzon Plus 250 mg/125 mg Injection contains two different medicines, Ceftriaxone and Sulbactum, that work together to kill the bacteria that cause infections. Ceftriaxone works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Sulbactam reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Ceftriaxone against bacteria.

Pharmacokinets

Pharmacokinetics. Absorption: Ceftriaxone can be administered intravenously and intramuscularly, and the drug is completely absorbed. It is not available orally. Distribution: Ceftriaxone penetrates tissues and body fluids well, including cerebrospinal fluid to treat central nervous system infections,Sulbactam, a new beta-lactamase inhibitor, has pharmacokinetic characteristics in humans similar to those of ampicillin and amoxicillin. Its half-life in humans is approximately 1 h.

It is not recommended to take ACCUZON PLUS INJECTION 1.5GM if you are allergic to penicillin any cephalosporin antibiotic or its contents. Before taking ACCUZON PLUS INJECTION 1.5GM, inform your doctor if you have kidney problems, liver disease, diabetes or using other antibiotics.

Indications

Ceftriaxone & Sulbactam for Injection is indicated in infections caused by Ceftriaxone sodium- sensitive pathogens and may be used in the clinical settings in Sepsis, Meningitis, Abdominal Infections (e.g. Peritonitis, infection of the biliary tract), infections of the Bones, Joints, Soft tissue, Skin and of wounds.

Interactions

Drug-Drug Interactions: CEFTRIAXONE+SULBACTAM may interact with vaccines (cholera vaccine) estrogens (ethinyl estradiol), penicillin antibiotics (mezlocillin and azlocillin), aminoglycoside antibiotics (amikacin, streptomycin, neomycin and gentamicin), immuno-suppressant(cyclosporine) and medicine used to treat gout .
