To make the most of this medicine, adhere to the prescribed dose, time, and way while giving this medicine to your child. Give it to your child orally, preferably after meals as this will prevent the chance of developing an upset stomach. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking Acefen 100 mg/125 mg Tablet, give the same dose again. In case it is already time for the next dose, skip repeating it. Never give more than the recommended dose for fast relief as that may cause unwanted effects in your child.

Mechanism Of Action

This combination acts by interfering with the production of a chemical called prostaglandins which is responsible for swelling and pain. It also controls fever and promotes cartilage matrix synthesis.

Pharmacokinets

Pharmacokinetics. After oral administration, peak serum concentration is reached after 1–2 hours, and up to 99% of the drug is bound to plasma proteins. The majority of ibuprofen is metabolized and eliminated within 24 hours in the urine; however, 1% of the unchanged drug is removed through biliary excretion.

Paracetamol is readily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract with peak plasma concentrations occurring about 30 minutes to 2 hours after ingestion. It is metabolised in the liver (90-95%) and excreted in the urine mainly as the glucuronide and sulphate conjugates. Less than 5% is excreted as unchanged paracetamol.

Pregnant women should not consume this medicine. This medicine can hamper the growth of fetus and can also cause heart and kidney-related problems in the baby. It can delay the labour and increase the duration as both mother and baby are at a risk of bleeding disorders if consumed by pregnant women. Women who are trying to conceive and taking treatment for infertility should not take this medicine.

Product And Alcohol Interaction

You should avoid consuming alcohol along with this medicine. It can increase the risk of liver disease and stomach bleeding.

Breast Feeding Related Information

This medicine passes in breast milk in low concentrations and may not be harmful to the breastfed baby. It can be used for short durations and at lowest possible dose if you are breastfeeding your baby.

Acefen 100 mg/125 mg Tablet is prescribed mainly to treat pain and get relief from discomfort cause in conditions like tooth pain, arthritis, period pain and other type of short term pains. It helps in treating pain by blocking the chemical messenger (prostaglandin) in the brain responsible for causing pain.

Interactions

Avoid consuming alcohol when taking Acefen 100 mg/125 mg Tablet  as it may cause excessive drowsiness and increase the risk of liver damage. Do not take it with any other medicine containing paracetamol (drugs for pain/fever or cough and cold) without asking your doctor first.

Effects Of Missed Dosage

Do not panic. Unless your doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, you can give the missed dose as soon as you remember it. Skip the missed dose if it’s almost time for the next dose. Do not give a double dose and follow the prescribed dosing schedule.
