Aceno 1mg Tablet should be taken as advised by the doctor. You may take it with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time. This medicine should not be stopped abruptly without consulting the doctor. You should take this medicine regularly to get the most benefit, even if you feel fine. It is preventing future harm.
Aceno 1mg Tablet is an oral anticoagulant. It acts by preventing the formation of harmful blood clots. Although it does not dissolve the existing blood clots, it inhibits them from growing larger and causing serious problems.
Acenocoumarol inhibits the reduction of vitamin K by vitamin K reductase. This prevents carboxylation of certain glutamic acid residues near the N-terminals of clotting factors II, VII, IX and X, the vitamin K-dependent clotting factors.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them
Common side effects of Aceno-
Bleeding
after surgery, which is associated with increased breakdown of blood clots (e.g., lung, prostate, or uterus surgery)
a high risk of abortion, eclampsia, and preeclampsia (complications of pregnancy often associated with sudden onset of very high blood pressure)
Aceno 1mg Tablet is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy. Seek your doctor's advice as studies on pregnant women and animals have shown significant harmful effects to the developing baby.
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Aceno 1mg Tablet.
Aceno 1mg Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

Store below 30°C
If you miss a dose of Aceno 1mg Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

Avoid making sudden major changes to your diet during treatment with this medicine.
Aceno 1mg Tablet increases your risk of bleeding. Be careful while shaving, cutting fingernails or toenails, using sharp objects or engaging in contact sports (e.g. football, wrestling).
Notify your doctor if you see blood in your vomit, urine or stool (black, tarry stools or bright red blood).
Do not consume alcohol while taking Aceno 1mg Tablet as this may increase its side effects.
If you are going to have a surgery or dental treatment, you may be asked to stop taking Aceno 1mg Tablet temporarily.
Do not discontinue use without consulting your doctor as this may increase your chances of having another heart attack or stroke.

Q. How long do I need to take Aceno 1mg Tablet?
You should continue taking Aceno 1mg Tablet for as long as recommended by your doctor. Depending upon the condition you are being treated for, you may have to take it for several months or years or maybe for the rest of your life.
Q. What should I avoid while taking Aceno 1mg Tablet?
You should avoid alcohol while taking Aceno 1mg Tablet as alcohol may interfere with working of Aceno 1mg Tablet. In addition to that, avoid cranberry juice or other cranberry products as there may be a risk of enhanced blood thinning. Avoid breastfeeding or getting pregnant as it may harm your child.
Q. Do I need to stop Aceno 1mg Tablet if I have to undergo a surgery?
Depending on the type of surgery that is to be performed, your doctor will tell you whether to continue or stop Aceno 1mg Tablet. It will be decided by your doctor after weighing the risks and benefits of discontinuing Aceno 1mg Tablet.
Q. Is Aceno 1mg Tablet same as warfarin?
Both Aceno 1mg Tablet and warfarin are blood thinners, but they have some differences. Warfarin has a more stable blood thinning effect.
Q. How long does it take for Aceno 1mg Tablet to start working?
It takes a little longer for Aceno 1mg Tablet to start working. On an average, it may take 3-4 days for Aceno 1mg Tablet to show its blood-thinning effect. For these 3-4 days, heparin may be used and then discontinued.
Q. What if I forget to take a dose?
If you forget to take a dose of Aceno 1mg Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is time for your next dose then skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose and continue your normal schedule. Keep a diary or set a reminder, so that you do not forget it often.
Q. What monitoring is required while taking Aceno 1mg Tablet?
The bleeding times should be carefully monitored from 2nd or 3rd dose of Aceno 1mg Tablet and till the clotting status is stabilized. Thereafter, the bleeding time can be monitored monthly. This frequency may be more in elderly.
