Aceto 250mg/5ml Suspension is given orally preferably at a fixed time every day. Though this medicine can be taken before or after food, it is best given after food as it can irritate the inner lining of an empty stomach. The dose and duration will depend upon your child’s age, body weight, and severity of the infection, so stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by your child’s doctor. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking the medicine, let the child calm down and repeat the same dose. Redosing is not recommended if your child gets sick more than 30 minutes after taking a dose.

Acetanilide derivative, Non narcotic Analgesic,Antipyretic.

Pharmacokinets

Paracetamol has analgesic and antipyretic action. It is more active on cyclo-oxygenase enzyme in brain. Peripherally it is a poor inhibitor of prostaglandin synthesis. Analgesic action: Paracetamol raises the pain threshold and produces analgesic effect. Antipyretic action: Paracetamol lowers fever by direct action on the thermoregulatory centre in the Hypothalamus and block the effects of endogenous pyrogen.

Typical Dosage

5 mg once daily. Maximum dose: 10mg/day Prinzmetal`s angina and Stable angina: 5 to 10mg once daily. Hypertension: 2.5 to 5mg once daily. Dose may increase up to 10mg once daily as required by the individual needs. .

Storage Requirements

Store at room temperature below 30 degree C. Protect from moisture and light.

Effects Of Missed Dosage

Store at 15-30 degree C in a tightly closed container. Protect from heat and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.

Effects Of Overdose

Take the missed dose as soon as noticed and if it is the time for next dose then skip the missed dose. Continue the regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Give supportive measures and symptomatic treatment. Drug can be removed from the body by gastric lavage or by inducing emesis. Absorption of the drug can be reduced by administration of activated charcoal. N-acetylcysteine is the specific antidote for Paracetamol poisoning. Dose: 150 mg /kg body weight as IV infusion over 15 minutes followed by same dose over 20 hours. Maintenance dose: 75 mg / kg orally every 4 - 6 hours for 2 - 3 days. Haemodialysis can be done in emergency conditions.

If the fever doesn't come down after the initial few doses, the cause might be an infection (virus or bacteria). It is advised to consult your child’s doctor for specific treatment.

You should only take four doses of Aceto 250mg/5ml Suspension in 24 hours. There should be a gap of at least 4-6 hours between two doses. Do not take it for more than 3 days without first talking to your doctor. Based on the dose, more than 250 mg/kg can lead to toxicity and can be potentially fatal. An overdose is capable of causing serious damage to the liver and kidneys. Inform your doctor immediately if you think you have given too much of this medicine to your child, even if your child seems well, because of the risk of delayed, serious liver damage.
