Pharmacology. Magaldrate is a hydroxymagnesium aluminate complex that is converted rapidly by gastric acid into Mg(OH)2 and Al(OH)3, which are absorbed poorly and thus provide a sustained antacid effect.
Simethicone and cellulose are both excreted unchanged in the feces. Simethicone is not known to interfere with gastric secretion or nutrient absorption; however, this medicine is usually taken after at least 4 hours of fasting. SonoRx may color the stool orange until elimination is complete, typically 24 to 48 hours.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them
