Activa MR 250 mg/50 mg/325 mg Tablet MR is a combination of a muscle relaxant (Chlorzoxazone) and two pain relieving medicines (Diclofenac and Paracetamol). The muscle relaxant works on the centers in the brain and spinal cord to relieve muscle stiffness or spasm, thereby improving movement of muscles.
Analysis of plasma samples indicated a rapid absorption and rapid elimination of chlorzoxazone. Average values of the elimination half-life and plasma clearance were 1.12 +/- 0.48 hr and 148.0 +/- 39.9 ml/min, respectively.
Diclofenac binds extensively to plasma albumin. The area under the plasma concentration-time curve (AUC) of diclofenac is proportional to the dose for oral doses between 25 to 150 mg. Substantial concentrations of drug are attained in synovial fluid, which is the proposed site of action for NSAIDs.
Paracetamol is readily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract with peak plasma concentrations occurring about 30 minutes to 2 hours after ingestion. It is metabolised in the liver (90-95%) and excreted in the urine mainly as the glucuronide and sulphate conjugates. Less than 5% is excreted as unchanged paracetamol.
