Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. The dropper tip should not come in direct contact with the affected area as there are chances of infection. Wipe off extra liquid.
Acular (ketorolac tromethamine ophthalmic solution) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug which, when administered systemically, has demonstrated analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-pyretic activity. The mechanism of its action is thought to be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin biosynthesis.
The absorption of ketorolac is rapid, Cmax being attained between 20 to 60 min. Its oral bioavailability is estimated to range from 80 to 100%. The drug is extensively bound (> 99%) to plasma proteins and has a volume of distribution (0.1 to 0.3 L/kg) comparable with those of other NSAIDs.
