Prescription Required: Consult the Doctor & Get Your ePrescription

Aerocort Inhaler is used in the treatment of asthma (wheezing and shortness of breath). It relaxes the muscles of the air passages and makes it easier to breathe.

Aerocort Inhaler is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as directed by your doctor. Clean and dry the affected area and apply it thinly and evenly over the area. Avoid covering the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages, as this may increase the risk of side effects.

Aerocort Inhaler may cause few side effects like burning sensation or irritation at the site of application. These are temporary and improve with time. However, if you experience any other symptoms which you think may be due to Aerocort Inhaler, inform your doctor.

Basic Information

Mechanism Of Action

It is a single-isomer, beta2-agonist that differs from racemic salbutamol by the elimination of (S)-salbutamol, which is inactive. Levosalbutamol has a highly selective action on the receptors in bronchial muscle, resulting in bronchodilation.

Pharmacokinets

Levosalbutamol elicits an equal or slightly larger response than an equivalent dose of the racemic mixture. This is probably due to competitive inhibition between the enantiomers at beta-adrenoceptors. Pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic relationships for levosalbutamol show relatively large interindividual variations.

Pharmacokinetics: Rapidly absorbed from pulmonary, nasal, and GI tissue. Undergoes extensive first-pass metabolism in the liver. Protein binding: 87%. Primarily eliminated in feces.
