Basic Information

Mechanism Of Action

Agenon Capsule 10's contains Coenzyme Q10, Pyridoxine, Levocarnitine, Resveratrol, and Benfotiamine. Coenzyme Q10 has antioxidant properties; it helps in improving blood pressure, vascular function and has energy-promoting activity.

Pharmacokinets

Ubiquinone (UQ; also known as coenzyme Q; CoQ) is a mobile component of the mitochondrial electron transport chain, where it acts as a pro-oxidant in its ubisemiquinone state. Despite this, UQ is also believed to be a membrane antioxidant.

The majority of the absorbed vitamin B6 is metabolized in the liver into PLP by the enzymes pyridoxal kinase, which phosphorylates PL, PM and PN to their phosphorylated forms, and pyridoxine phosphate oxidase, which oxidizes PNP and PMP to PLP .

L-Carnitine is eliminated from the body mainly via urinary excretion. Under baseline conditions, the renal clearance of L-carnitine (1-3 mL/min) is substantially less than glomerular filtration rate (GFR), indicating extensive (98-99%) tubular reabsorption.

Resveratrol pharmacokinetics have shown circadian variation, with higher bioavailability after morning administration (18). Resveratrol is mainly metabolized in the intestines and liver, and its major metabolites are resveratrol glucuronides and sulphates.

Benfotiamine is a prodrug having no pharmacological activity. It is absorbed via passive diffusion through the intestinal mucosa and is rapidly converted to thiamine, and thiamine can be further metabolized to produce phosphorylated compounds mainly as TMP and TDP.
