Domperidone is an anti-sickness medicine. It is used for the treatment of nausea and vomiting. It increases the movement of food into the stomach, thereby helps in indigestion. It is also used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease and gastroparesis (sluggish movements of the stomach). It belongs to the anti-emetic (emesis - vomiting) group of medicines. Domperidone is available in the form of a tablet, capsule, syrup, suspension, oral drops, rectal suppository. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about all the medicines and supplements you take and all the conditions or diseases you suffer from, before starting domperidone.

Mechanism Of Action

Domperidone 10 MG Tablet works by blocking certain chemicals messengers (dopamine) in the vomiting centre of your brain and acts on the upper digestive tract to increase the movement of the stomach and intestines. This causes faster gastric emptying and helps in the prevention of nausea and vomiting.

Pharmacokinets

The absorption of domperidone was very rapid, with mean peak plasma concentration (Cmax) values of 18.8, 15.0, and 20.7 ng/mL attained at 0.9, 1.2, and 0.6 hours after the administration of base tablet, maleate tablet, and solution, respectively. The mean elimination half-life (t1/2) ranged from 12.6 to 16.0 hours.

Product And Alcohol Interaction

Do not consume alcohol, as it increases the side effects of Aglodom Tablet.

Breast Feeding Related Information

Do not take Aglodom Tablet if you are breastfeeding. A small amount of this medicine passes into breastmilk. It may cause unwanted side effects in a breastfed baby. It should be used during breastfeeding if your doctor considers it necessary.

Indications

Domperidone 10mg Tablet is presented as a white round biconvex tablet with “Dm 10” inscription on one side. Domepridone is indicated for the relief of the symptoms of nausea and vomiting. Domeperidone should be used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary to control nausea and vomiting.

Effects Of Missed Dosage

If you have missed taking any dose of the Aglodom Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of this medicine to compensate for the missed one.


Effects Of Overdose

Symptoms of an overdose of this medicine include difficulty in speaking, poor coordination, dizziness, fainting, irregular heartbeat, light-headedness, loss of balance and poor muscle control. Seek emergency medical attention immediately if you suspect an overdose.
