INTRODUCTION OF FLUTICASONE PROPIONATE

Airtec SF 500 Instacap is a combination of two medicines that opens the airways and makes it easier to breathe. It is used in the treatment of asthma (wheezing and shortness of breath) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (a lung disorder in which the flow of air to the lungs is blocked).

Airtec SF 500 Instacap is only meant for external use and should be used as advised by your doctor. You should normally wash and dry the affected area before applying a thin layer of the medicine. Avoid any contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse it off with plenty of water in case of accidental contact. Avoid covering the treated area with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor.

Using the medicine may cause itching or burning sensation, irritation, redness, and swelling at the site of application. These side effects are temporary and usually go away with time. However, if they persist or worsen, let your doctor know. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult their doctors before using this medicine. It should not be used in children below 1 year of age.

Basic Information

Mechanism Of Action

Fluticasone is in a class of medications called steroids. It works by reducing swelling in the airways. Salmeterol is in a class of medications called long-acting beta-agonists (LABAs). It works by relaxing and opening air passages in the lungs, making it easier to breathe.

Pharmacokinets

For inhaled fluticasone propionate (FP), oral bioavailability is negligible due both to low absorption from the gastrointestinal tract and high hepatic first-pass metabolism [6]. Therefore, any systemic effects of this drug arise from lung absorption.

Salmeterol is an inhaled long-acting selective beta(2)-adrenoceptor agonist that is commercially available as the xinafoate (1-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid) salt of the racemic mixture of the two optical isomers, (R)- and (S)-, of salmeterol. It acts locally in the lung through action on beta2 receptors.
