Alcephin 125mg Syrup may be given with or without food. However, if your child develops a stomach upset, prefer giving it with food. It is usually given three times a day but this may vary depending on the type and severity of the infection. Stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking this medicine, give the same dose again. Avoid giving a double dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Inform the doctor about your child’s complete medical history, including any previous episode of allergy, heart problems, blood disorders, birth defects, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problems, skin disorders, and liver or kidney malfunction. Cephalexin in Keflex Dry Syrup works by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, which ultimately leads to the death of bacteria.

Pharmacokinets

Protein binding is 70 per cent. Cefixime is cleared, mainly unchanged, partly by the liver (60 per cent) and partly by the kidneys (40 per cent). The elimination half-life varies between 3 and 4 hours. Plasma concentrations increase linearly but not proportionally to doses.

Breast Feeding Related Information

Alcephin 125 MG Syrup is may be safe to use during breastfeeding. It enters into breast milk at low levels. Hence it should only be used if the benefit is greater than the risk of harm to the baby. If used, the baby should be observed for symptoms such as diarrhoea and yeast infection.

Alcephin  125mg Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that is given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections associated with the ear, nose, throat, tonsils, lungs, and skin. It may also be prescribed as a second line of treatment for urinary tract infections.

Interactions

Drug-Drug Interactions: Alcephin 125mg Syrup may have interaction with antibiotics (capreomycin, vancomycin, gentamicin, neomycin, tobramycin, cefuroxime), anti-fungal (amphotericin), anti-gout (probenecid), antidiabetic (metformin), and diuretics (furosemide, bumetanide).

Effects Of Missed Dosage

Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child’s doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.

You may see white patches inside your child’s mouth and throat after a prolonged intake of Alcephin 125mg Syrup. This could be due to a fungal infection. So, if your child develops any such effect, contact your doctor right away.
