Basic Information

Mechanism Of Action

It works by suppressing the activity of osteoclasts, cells that cause destruction of bone. This strengthens the bone and minimizes the risk of fractures. Vitamin D3 helps protect your bones, both by increasing calcium absorption and by supporting muscles needed to avoid falls.

Pharmacokinets

Alendronate (alendronic acid; 4-amino-1-hydroxybutylidene bisphosphonate) has demonstrated effectiveness orally in the treatment and prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis, corticosteroid-induced osteoporosis and Paget's disease of the bone.

The pharmacokinetics of oral vitamin D3 are conventionally described with respect to its effect on the serum concentration of the predominant circulating metabolite, 25-hydroxyvitamin D ([25(OH)D]), which is a well-established biomarker of systemic vitamin D status
