Alerid Tablet can be taken with or without food. The dose required for you may vary depending on what you are taking it for. This medicine is usually taken in the evening but follow the advice of your doctor on how to take it. You may need this medicine only on days you have symptoms, but if you are taking it to prevent symptoms you should take it regularly. If you miss doses or stop taking it earlier than advised, your symptoms may come back.

Cetirizine works by opposing the action of a substance called histamine that is responsible for causing allergic symptoms. Phenylephrine works by narrowing the blood vessels causing relief in nasal blockage

The Tmax of cetirizine is approximately 1.0 hour regardless of formulation. The pharmacokinetics of cetirizine have been found to increase linearly with dose across a range of 5 to 60 mg. Its Cmax following a single dose has been found to be 257 ng/mL for 10 mg and 580 ng/mL for 20 mg.

Alerid Tablet 10's is used to treat adults and children (aged two years and above) who have hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis), round the year dust or pet allergies (perennial allergic rhinitis), and urticaria (swelling, redness, and itchiness of the skin).

Interactions

Drug-Food Interaction: Alcohol and St John's wort plant (a plant used as anti-depressant) should not be used along with Alerid Tablet 10's. Drug-Disease Interaction: Alerid Tablet 10's is contraindicated in kidney disease, epilepsy (fits), urinary bladder problem and alcoholism.
