Alermine 2mg Tablet should be taken with or without food. Take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. You should take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you. In case, you missed any doses, take the next dose as soon as you remember it. However, you should never take a double dose.
Chlorpheniramine in Alermine Tablet works by opposing the action of histamine, a chemical formed in the body in certain allergic conditions.
Dexchlorpheniramine maleate is a first generation antihistamine used to treat allergic and vasomotor rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and mild urticaria and angioedema. Dexchlorpheniramine is the S-enantiomer of chlorpheniramine which is a 1st generation anti-histamine.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them
Common side effects of Alermine
Sleepiness
overactive thyroid gland.
increased pressure in the eye.
closed angle glaucoma.
high blood pressure.
stenosing peptic ulcer.
blockage of the urinary bladder.
enlarged prostate.
an inability to completely empty the bladder.
Alermine 2mg Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.
Alermine 2mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.
Alermine 2mg Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Larger doses or prolonged use of Alermine 2mg Tablet may cause sleepiness and other effects in the baby
Alermine 2mg Tablet is used to treat many different inflammatory and allergic conditions. It helps treat runny nose, sneezing, itching, and watery eyes. It works by lowering your immune system's response to these conditions and prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation.
Diethylpropion Diethylpropion may decrease the sedative and stimulatory activities of Dexchlorpheniramine maleate.
Digitoxin The risk or severity of QTc prolongation can be increased when Digitoxin is combined with Dexchlorpheniramine maleate.
Do not chew, crush or break it. Alermine 2mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Store below 30°C
If you miss a dose of Alermine 2mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Consult a doctor before taking any medicines.
Avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery as it may decrease alertness.
Avoid consuming alcohol when taking the Alermine 2mg Tablet, as it may cause excessive sleepiness or drowsiness.
Alermine 2mg Tablet should not be used in children less than 12 years of age.
Patients with other underlying medical conditions must consult their doctor before taking Alermine 2mg Tablet.
Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should not take this medicine unless prescribed by a doctor.
Alermine 2mg Tablet should not be taken by patients taking Monoamine oxidase inhibitors, such as isocarboxazid, phenelzine, tranylcypromine, etc.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Alermine 2mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
