Alfoo 10mg Tablet PR is advised to take it in a dose and duration as per prescription. It should be taken with food, but take at the same time regularly. Swallow the medicine as a whole without crushing or chewing it. You should not stop taking the medicine without consulting the doctor as it may lead to the worsening of your symptoms. The course of the treatment should be completed for better efficacy of the medicine.

Mechanism Of Action

Alfoo 10mg Tablet PR is an alpha-adrenergic antagonist that is used in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia. It helps to relieve symptoms like difficulty in passing urine. However, it does not decrease the size of the prostate.

Pharmacokinets

Alfuzosin has a serum half-life of five hours after oral administration. Alfuzosin has a linear pharmacokinetic profile over the dosing range of 1 to 5 mg, with no change in half-life despite an increase in the dose. The volume of distribution of alfuzosin is 2.5 L/kg, and 90% of each dose is protein bound.

If you feel dizzy, light-headed or faint when you stand or sit up quickly from sitting or lying position, because of drop in blood pressure (orthostatic hypotension).

Medicines for fungal infections like itraconazole, ketoconazole should not be used together with this medicine as they increases the side effects of Alfoo tablet

Concomitant use of medicines to treat HIV infections like ritonavir increases the side effects of this medicine.

Concomitant use of medicines to treat bacterial infections like clarithromycin, telithromycin increases the side effects of Alfoo tablet.

Medicines to treat brain diseases like nefazodone when used together with this medicine can alter the effect of the medicine.
