Alfusin Tablet PR is advised to take it in a dose and duration as per prescription. It should be taken with food, but take at the same time regularly. Swallow the medicine as a whole without crushing or chewing it. You should not stop taking the medicine without consulting the doctor as it may lead to the worsening of your symptoms. The course of the treatment should be completed for better efficacy of the medicine. Before receiving the treatment, inform your doctor if you are on any medication for any other health condition. If you have to undergo eye surgery due to cataracts or glaucoma then inform your eye doctor about the usage of this medicine. Patients with liver or kidney disease must be cautious while receiving the prescription, and they must receive regular follow-ups as per the doctor’s advice.
Alfusin Tablet PR is an alpha blocker. It works by relaxing muscle around the bladder exit and prostate gland so urine is passed more easily.
Alfuzosin has a serum half-life of five hours after oral administration. Alfuzosin has a linear pharmacokinetic profile over the dosing range of 1 to 5 mg, with no change in half-life despite an increase in the dose. The volume of distribution of alfuzosin is 2.5 L/kg, and 90% of each dose is protein bound.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Alfusin 10 mg Tablet is a prescription medicine containing Alfuzosin. It is used to treat the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men. BPH is a condition that causes enlargement of the prostate gland leading to urinary problems like difficulty in urination, increased frequency, weak urine stream, etc.

No, Alfusin Tablet PR does not shrink the size of the prostate. It belongs to alpha-blocker class of medicines. It works by relaxing muscles of bladder and prostate to allow urine to flow more easily. It helps in relieving symptoms of an enlarged prostate.
Q. Can Alfusin Tablet PR cause erectile dysfunction?
No, Alfusin Tablet PR does not cause erectile dysfunction. On the contrary, it may help in improving such condition. However, this medicine may cause painful erection (priapism) which does not go away. If priapism is not treated you may not be able to get an erection in the future.
Q. When should I take Alfusin Tablet PR?
Alfusin Tablet PR should be taken after meals at the same time each day. Do not cut, crush, or chew the medicine, but swallow it whole with water.

In very rare cases your liver may be affected and cause liver function abnormality. Inform the doctor if you already have liver disease before starting the medication. The doctor will prescribe a lower dose of Alfusin Tablet PR once or twice daily.

Yes, it can be taken by elderly or old people, but they need to be careful. Regular monitoring is required in case the patient also has high blood pressure.

In rare cases, Alfusin Tablet PR may cause abnormal vision. But, it is important to know that this medicine may cause complications during surgery, if you are to be operated for cataract. Hence, inform your doctor before surgery that you are taking Alfusin Tablet PR. Your doctor may perform surgery differently and complications can be prevented.
Q. Can the use of sildenafil or vardenafil cause trouble when taken along with Alfusin Tablet PR?
Extreme care should be taken if you are taking sildenafil or vardenafil along with Alfusin Tablet PR. The combination may cause a significant decrease in blood pressure which can be serious. Inform your doctor if you are taking these medicines.

Alfusin Tablet PR may lower your blood pressure especially when you suddenly stand up after lying down. You may feel dizzy or fainting and therefore you should get up slowly from bed or chair. This medicine may impair your reactions. Hence, avoid driving or hazardous activities until you know how this medicine will affect you.
