Alphalan 5mg Tablet should be taken on an empty stomach, but try to take it at the same time every day. Your doctor will decide what dose is necessary and how often you need to take it. This will depend on what you are being treated for and may change from time to time. You should take it exactly as your doctor has advised. Taking it in the wrong way or taking too much can cause very serious side effects. It may take several weeks or months for you to see or feel the benefits but do not stop taking it unless your doctor tells you to. It makes skin more sensitive towards sunlight, wear protective clothing or use sunscreen.
Alphalan 5mg Tablet is an anti-cancer medication. It works by damaging the genetic material (DNA and RNA) of the cancer cells. This stops their growth and multiplication.
Melphalan was assayed in plasma by a specific HPLC method with UV detection. Plasma levels of melphalan declined in a biexponential fashion with a mean terminal half-life of 83 minutes (range 52-168 minutes). Estimated peak plasma concentrations ranged from 1.65 to 14.5 micrograms/ml.

If you miss a dose of Alphalan 5mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
