Alporate 200mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time, each day. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. If you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. Never skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Do not stop taking it abruptly without discussing it with your doctor, as it may increase seizure frequency.
Alporate Tablet is a combination medicine that acts by increasing the release of certain chemical in the brain that regulates the electrical activity in the brain.
Summary. Valproic acid is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, peak concentrations being attained 1 to 2 hours after administration of the conventional tablet, but later with the enteric-coated tablets. The bioavailability of valproic acid is complete and independent of the preparation used.

Some products that may interact with this drug include: certain antidepressants (such as amitriptyline, nortriptyline, phenelzine), certain antibiotics (carbapenems such as imipenem), irinotecan, mefloquine, orlistat, other medications for seizure (such as ethosuximide, lamotrigine, phenytoin, rufinamide, topiramate).

If you miss a dose of Alporate 200mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
