Alsiva 80mg Tablet should be taken with food. However, it is advised to take it at the same time each day as this helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor and if you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor as it may worsen your symptoms.
Lurasidone is a full antagonist at dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2A and 5-HT7 receptors. It is a partial agonist at the serotonin 5-HT1A receptor. Lurasidone, when compared to other atypical antipsychotics, has the highest binding affinity for the 5-HT7 receptor.
Lurasidone is metabolized into two active metabolites (ID-14283 and ID-14326) and two major non-active metabolites (ID-20219 and ID-20220). The total excretion of radioactivity in urine and feces, combined, was approximately 89%. In clinical trials, 80% was recovered in feces and 9% was recovered in urine.

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Alsiva 80mg Tablet.
Alsiva 80mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
This medication is used to treat certain mental/mood disorders (such as schizophrenia, depression associated with bipolar disorder). Lurasidone helps you to think more clearly, feel less nervous, and take part in everyday life. It may also help to decrease hallucinations (hearing/seeing things that are not there).
Lurasidone should not be used with certain medicines such as carbamazepine (Tegretol), clarithromycin (Biaxin), ketoconazole (Nizoral), phenytoin (Dilantin), rifampin (Rifadin, Rimactane), ritonavir (Norvir), St. John's wort, or voriconazole (Vfend).

Alsiva 80mg Tablet should be avoided during pregnancy unless this has been prescribed by your doctor. Your doctor will monitor your baby closely after birth because giving Alsiva 80mg Tablet during the last 3 months to the mother may cause shaking, sleepiness, agitation, breathing problems, difficulty in feeding and muscle stiffness and/or weakness in the baby.

Alsiva 80mg Tablet may cause an increase in blood sugar levels in diabetic patients or those having risk factors for diabetes. It may also decrease white blood cell count and increase prolactin, cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Therefore, during treatment with Alsiva 80mg Tablet, your doctor may get blood tests done to check for blood sugar levels, blood cell counts, prolactin levels (hormone) and cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

Alsiva 80mg Tablet should be swallowed whole with water in order to mask the bitter taste. You should take it during meals or just after having meals as this helps the body to take up the medicine and allows it to work better. Try to take it at the same time every day, so that you remember to take it.

Alsiva 80mg Tablet can cause increased risk of death in elderly people who have confusion, memory loss or have lost touch with reality (dementia-related psychosis). It is important to know that Alsiva 80mg Tablet may increase suicidal thoughts or behavior in some children, teenagers, and young adults within the first few months of treatment and when the dose is changed.
