Prefer giving Althrocin 100mg Drop on an empty stomach (either 1 hour before or 2 hours after food) as that will enhance the medicine’s absorption. However, if stomach upset occurs, give it with a small amount of food. Althrocin 100mg Drop is usually given four times a day. Since the dose depends upon the type of infection, its severity, and your child’s age and body weight, make sure to stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor.
Althrocin 100mg Drop is an antibiotic. It works by interfering with the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to perform important functions.
Pharmacokinetics. Erythromycin is easily inactivated by gastric acid; therefore, all orally administered formulations are given as either enteric-coated or more-stable salts or esters, such as erythromycin ethylsuccinate. Erythromycin is very rapidly absorbed, and diffuses into most tissues and phagocytes.

It is used to treat various bacterial infections of respiratory system (like pneumonia, bronchitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis and sinusitis), skin infections (like acne and rosacea), ear infections, and sexually transmitted infections.

Q. Is it safe to give Althrocin 100mg Drop if my child has low potassium levels in blood?
Avoid giving Althrocin 100mg Drop if your child has low potassium levels as it can lead to conduction abnormalities of the heart such as arrhythmias (QT prolongation).
Q. Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Althrocin 100mg Drop ?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
Q. Which lab tests should my child undergo while taking Althrocin 100mg Drop for the long term?
Your child’s doctor may advise you to track your child’s ECG and liver functioning periodically as that will help to keep a check on your child’s condition.
Q. My child is having a sore throat and ear infection. Can I give antibiotics?
No. Sore throats, runny nose, cough, pain, or discharge from the ear are almost always caused by viruses. As per statistics, more than 80% of sore throats and ear infections are caused by a virus. Since antibiotics should not be given for viral infections, it will be best if you consult your child’s doctor to seek guidance.
