Amaryl MP 2mg Tablet SR should be taken in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It must be taken with food to avoid stomach upset. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose. Overdose may lead to low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Amaryl MP 2mg Tablet SR is a combination medicine that helps control blood sugar levels. This medicine is used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It helps in proper utilisation of insulin, thereby lowering the blood sugar levels.
Glimepiride is completely metabolized by oxidative biotransformation after either an IV or oral dose. The major metabolites are the cyclohexyl hydroxy methyl derivative (M1) and the carboxyl derivative (M2). Cytochrome P450 2C9 has been shown to be involved in the biotransformation of glimepiride to M1.
Pharmacokinetics. Metformin has an oral bioavailability of 50–60% under fasting conditions, and is absorbed slowly. Peak plasma concentrations (Cmax) are reached within 1–3 hours of taking immediate-release metformin and 4–8 hours with extended-release formulations.
Pioglitazone is a thiazolidinedione that increases insulin sensitivity in target tissues. It is well-absorbed, with a mean absolute bioavailability of 83% and reaching maximum concentrations in around 1.5 hours. It is metabolised by the hepatic cytochrome P450 enzyme system.
