Amcard-OM Tablet may be taken on an empty stomach or along with food. However, it is better to take it regularly at a fixed time each day, as prescribed by your doctor. The dose will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. It is important to keep taking this medicine even if you feel well. By lowering your blood pressure, it is reducing your risk of heart attack or stroke so do not stop taking it unless your doctor tells you to. You can help this medication work better by making a few changes to your lifestyle by being active, stopping smoking and eating low salt and low-fat diet. Before taking this medicine, let your doctor know if you have any kidney or liver problems or severe dehydration. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctor before taking it. While using this medicine, your blood pressure will be monitored regularly and your kidney function may also need to be tested.
Amcard-OM Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Olmesartan Medoxomil and Amlodipine which lower blood pressure effectively. Olmesartan Medoxomil is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) and Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker (CCB).
Olmesartan shows linear pharmacokinetics following single oral doses of up to 320 mg and multiple oral doses of up to 80 mg. Steady-state levels of olmesartan are achieved within 3 to 5 days and no accumulation in plasma occurs with once-daily dosing.
Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium antagonist drug with distinctive pharmacokinetic characteristics which appear to be attributable to a high degree of ionisation. Following oral administration, bioavailability is 60 to 65% and plasma concentrations rise gradually to peak 6 to 8h after administration.

Olmesartan Medoxomil is contraindicated in: Pregnant women, especially in the second and third trimesters as it can cause reduced fetal renal function and increase the risk of fetal injury and death. It can also cause fetal malformations including skeletal deformities.
Amlodipine is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to amlodipine or its dosage form components. In addition, amlodipine is relatively contraindicated in patients with cardiogenic shock, severe aortic stenosis, unstable angina, severe hypotension, heart failure, and hepatic impairment.
Amcard-OM Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor.
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Amcard-OM Tablet.
Amcard-OM Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
This product is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. This product contains 2 medications: amlodipine and olmesartan. They both work by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily.
Drug-Disease Interactions: AMLODIPINE+OLMESARTAN MEDOXOMIL should not be given to the people with cardiogenic shock (when the heart fails to pump required blood to the body), heart valve problem (stenosis), low blood pressure (hypotension), liver disease, or heart failure.

If you miss a dose of Amcard-OM Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Do not take Amcard-OM Tablet Tablet if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding.

You may notice a decrease in your blood pressure effectively within 2 weeks of starting Amcard-OM Tablet. However, it may take about 8 weeks to see the full benefits of this medicine. Your doctor may suggest to take your first dose before bedtime, considering that this medicine can make you feel dizzy. After the very first dose you can take Amcard-OM Tablet at any time of the day. It is important to take this medicine at the same time every day.

Yes, the use of Amcard-OM Tablet can make you feel dizzy. This may occur when you suddenly get up from a lying or sitting position. To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.

Q. Can Amcard-OM Tablet cause weight gain?
No, Amcard-OM Tablet does not cause weight gain. However, in very rare cases, chronic diarrhea with substantial weight loss may occur. If a patient develops diarrhea while taking Amcard-OM Tablet and no other cause of diarrhea can be deduced, the doctor may suggest discontinuation of the medicine and recommend another medicine.
Q. What are the serious side effects of Amcard-OM Tablet?
The serious side effects of Amcard-OM Tablet include skin rash or itchiness, painful joints, fast heart beat, shortness of breath or tightness in the chest. Serious side effects may also include aching, tender or weak muscles (not caused by exercise), and swelling of the hands, feet or ankles. Amcard-OM Tablet may also cause symptoms that may indicate high potassium levels in the blood, such as nausea, diarrhea, muscle weakness and change in heart rhythm. If you experience any of these symptoms, call your doctor immediately.
Q. Can Amcard-OM Tablet affect my fertility or sex life?
Some blood pressure medicines (including water pills like hydrochlorothiazide) may affect a man’s ability to gain or maintain an erection (erectile dysfunction). However, it is thought that other blood pressure medicines can actually improve erectile dysfunction. If you are worried or notice some changes, talk to your doctor. There is no firm evidence which suggests any effect on the fertility of either men or women with the use of Amcard-OM Tablet.
Q. For how long do I need to take Amcard-OM Tablet? Is it safe to take long term?
You may have to take Amcard-OM Tablet life long. Amcard-OM Tablet controls high blood pressure but does not cure it. Do not stop taking it even if your blood pressure is well controlled. Amcard-OM Tablet is generally considered safe to be taken for a long term. In some cases, long-term use may adversely affect the kidneys and the kidneys may not function as they should. Therefore, your doctor may prescribe regular blood tests to check urea, creatinine and potassium levels to keep a track of how well your kidneys are working.
