Amcold Syrup is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.
Amcold Syrup is a combination of two medicines: Cetirizine and Ambroxol, which relieves cough. Cetirizine is an antiallergic that treats runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing. Ambroxol is a mucolytic which thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out.
The Tmax of cetirizine is approximately 1.0 hour regardless of formulation. The pharmacokinetics of cetirizine have been found to increase linearly with dose across a range of 5 to 60 mg. Its Cmax following a single dose has been found to be 257 ng/mL for 10 mg and 580 ng/mL for 20 mg.
Bioavailability of ambroxol administered orally is approximately 70–80%. The distribution half-life of ambroxol is 1.3 hours, metabolite is dibromoanthranilic acid (activity unspecified) and Elimination of ambroxol is biphasic, with an alpha half-life of 1.3 hours and a beta half-life of 8.8 hours.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Cetirizine is contraindicated in anyone with a known hypersensitivity to it or any of its ingredients. Cetirizine is also contraindicated in anyone with a known hypersensitivity to hydroxyzine, as cetirizine is a metabolite of hydroxyzine.
Hypersensitivity. There are no other specific contraindications for administration of ambroxol however caution is advised in patients of gastric ulceration.
Amcold Syrup may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
Amcold Syrup may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.
Amcold Syrup is unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Data suggests that the drug may cause toxicity to the baby.

If you miss a dose of Amcold Syrup, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Stop taking Amcold Syrup at least three days before taking an allergy test as it can affect the test results.
Inform your doctor if your cough persists for more than 14 days.

Q. Can I drink alcohol while taking Amcold Syrup?
No, avoid drinking alcohol while taking Amcold Syrup. Drinking alcohol will increase the severity of drowsiness/sleepiness caused by Amcold Syrup.
Q. Can I breastfeed while taking Amcold Syrup?
No, it is not advisable to breastfeed while using Amcold Syrup. This medicine contains Cetirizine, an antihistamine, which can pass into the breast milk and may harm the baby. Inform your doctor that you are breastfeeding if you are advised to take this medicine.
Q. Can the use of Amcold Syrup cause sleepiness or drowsiness?
Yes, Amcold Syrup may make you feel drowsy or sleepy. Do not drive car, operate machinery, work at heights or participate in potentially dangerous activities until you know how the medicine affects you. Inform your doctor if you experience such episodes while you are taking this medicine.
Q. Will Amcold Syrup be more effective if taken in more than recommended dose?
No, taking a higher than the recommended dose may not be more effective, rather it may increase the chances of having serious side effects and toxicity. If the recommended dosage does not relieve your symptoms or there is an increased severity of your symptoms, please consult your doctor.
Q. Can the use of Amcold Syrup cause dry mouth?
Yes, the use of Amcold Syrup can cause dry mouth. If you experience dry mouth, drink plenty of water. Take regular sips during the day and keep some water by your bed at night.
