Amfos 500mg Injection works by removing free radical, harmful elements produced by cisplatin (a medicine used to treat cancer) or radiation therapy in tissues.
Amifostine (Ethyol) administered to cancer patients is rapidly cleared from plasma by a biphasic decay with an alpha half-life (T1/2 alpha) of 0.88 min and a T1/2 beta of 8.8 min. The result is that more than 90% of the drug has disappeared from the plasma compartment 6 min after intravenous (i.v.) administration.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them
