It is best to take Amifru-S Tablet in the morning along with food in order to avoid frequent urination at night time. For better results, it is suggested to take it at the same time every day. Mechanism Of Action

Amifru-S Tablet helps get rid of the extra water and electrolytes from your body by increasing the amount of urine produced. This enables your body to get rid of extra water thereby relieving symptoms such as shortness of breath and swelling in your arms, legs, or abdomen.

Pharmacokinets

The drug is 97.6 % bound to plasma albumins. The unbound fraction of the drug rapidly increases with albumin concentration below 2 gm per 100 ml. The half-life of furosemide ranges from 0.33 to 1.17 hours in healthy subjects, and from 4.9 to 9.7 hours in patients with advanced renal failure.

The mean time to reach peak plasma concentration of spironolactone and the active metabolite, canrenone, in healthy volunteers is 2.6 and 4.3 hours, respectively. Effect of food: Food increased the bioavailability of spironolactone (as measured by AUC) by approximately 95.4%.

Drug-Drug Interaction: FUROSEMIDE+SPIRONOLACTONE may interact with other high blood pressure-lowering pills (metoprolol, ramipril, hydrochlorothiazide, atorvastatin), and it can lower your blood pressure leading to severe condition.

Amifru-S Tablet is a fixed-dose combination of furosemide (a loop diuretic) and spironolactone (an antagonist of aldosterone). Both are diuretics and they help to remove excess fluid from the body. The use of this combination is advised in patients of congestive heart failure (heart failure leading to fluid accumulation in the lung and rest of the body), nephrotic syndrome (a kidney disorder), liver cirrhosis with fluid retention (edema) and swelling of the abdomen (ascites).

Yes, Amifru-S Tablet can cause gout. Amifru-S Tablet contains furosemide which can increase the blood uric acid levels by increasing its absorption from the kidneys. Increased uric acid levels can cause a gout attack. Inform your doctor if you have hyperuricemia (excess of uric acid in blood) or a history of gout before taking this medicine. Use of Amifru-S Tablet should be avoided in patients with gout.
