Amilab Eye Drop stops the growth of bacteria and thereby helps to cure the underlying infection. Follow your doctor’s instructions precisely for administering this medicine in the eye. Wait for at least 5 minutes before applying any other eye medication. It should be used regularly at evenly spaced time intervals as prescribed by your doctor. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping the medicine too early may lead to the infection returning or worsening. It is a broad-spectrum type of antibiotic effective in killing many types of bacteria. However, it will not work for other types of eye infections (e.g. viral) and therefore, should only be used if prescribed by your doctor. Unnecessary use of any antibiotic can lead to a decrease in its effectiveness in the future.

The plasma elimination half-life of amikacin is usually 2-3 hours in adults with normal renal function and is reported to range from 30-86 hours in adults with severe renal impairment. The mean serum clearance rate is about 100 mL/min and the renal clearance rate is 94 mL/min in subjects with normal renal function.
