Continuous monitoring of blood pressure and heart rate may be needed while taking this medicine. It is important that you keep taking it until your doctor decides it is safe to stop it. If you stop taking this medicine, you may get dangerous uneven heartbeats, which can be life-threatening.
Amiodar 100 Tablet 10's is an antiarrhythmic drug used to treat arrhythmias (irregular heartbeat). It acts by blocking the potassium channels in the heart and slows down heart activity. It blocks the abnormal electrical activity in the heart and normalizes the heartbeat.
PHARMACOKINETICS. Amiodarone is an iodine-containing compound with some structural similarity to thyroxine. The drug's high iodine content likely is a factor in its effects on the thyroid gland. The bioavailability of amiodarone is variable but generally poor, ranging from 22 to 95 percent.

If you miss a dose of Amiodar 100 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Notify your doctor if you develop breathlessness, persistent cough, jaundice, restlessness, weight loss/gain or eye problems.

When given through an injection intravenously (in the vein) then it may decrease in the blood pressure. To prevent this your doctor or nurse may give Amiodar 100 Tablet slowly. Along with that, you may also be prescribed medicines which increase blood pressure (vasopressor agents) to the infusion.
