Basic Information

Mechanism Of Action

Amix (500mg) is an aminoglycoside antibiotic, prescribed for serious bacterial infections. It inhibits the production of bacterial proteins, which causes bacterial cell death.

Pharmacokinets

Artemether is rapidly absorbed and extensively metabolized (i.e. demethylated) in vitro by the cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes CYP1A2, CYP2B6, CYP2C19 and CYP3A4 into dihydroartemisinin. However, no major contribution of CYP2C19 and CYP2D6 was seen in the demethylation of artemether in healthy volunteers.
