Andial Liquid is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.
Loperamide works by a number of different mechanisms of action that decrease peristalsis and fluid secretion, resulting in longer gastrointestinal transit time and increased absorption of fluids and electrolytes from the gastrointestinal tract.
Pharmacokinetics Absorption Plasma concentrations of unchanged drug remain below 2 ng/mL after the intake of a 2 mg capsule of IMODIUM®. Plasma loperamide concentrations are highest approximately 5 hours after administration of the capsule and 2.5 hours after the liquid.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

IMODIUM (loperamide hcl) is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to loperamide hydrochloride or to any of the excipients.

Andial Liquid may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.

Andial Liquid is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.

For the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhoea of any aetiology including acute exacerbations of chronic diarrhoea for periods of up to 5 days in adults and children over 4 years. For the symptomatic treatment of chronic diarrhoea in adults.

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses
Contact a doctor immediately if an overdose is suspected. Symptoms of overdose may include dizziness, confusion, severe stomach cramps and pain, constipation etc.
You have been prescribed Andial Liquid for the treatment of diarrhea.
Diarrhea can cause water loss and electrolyte imbalance. Drink plenty of fluids to help keep you hydrated.
Consult your doctor if your diarrhea lasts for more than 48 hours.
Do not use Andial Liquid if you have blood in your stool or if you are severely constipated.
Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as Andial Liquid can cause dizziness and sleepiness.
Stop taking the medication as soon as your symptoms are relieved.

Andial Liquid is used in higher doses as a part of opiate withdrawal process. However, do consult your doctor regarding the same.

No, Andial Liquid is a safe and non-addictive anti-diarrheal drug.
Q. Can Andial Liquid be used for stomach cramps, nausea, stomach flu, rota virus diarrhea and gas?
Andial Liquid may benefit few cases of stomach cramps or nausea associated with diarrhea. It is sometimes used for stomach flu, rota virus diarrhea. It is not used for gas. Please consult your doctor before taking the drug.
Q. Can I take Andial Liquid with cimetidine?
Cimetidine can decrease the metabolism of Andial Liquid, increase its blood levels and hence, increase its effects and side effects. Your dose of Andial Liquid may needs to be decreased. Consult your doctor prior to taking both the drugs together.
