Andial Liquid is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. Mechanism Of Action

Loperamide works by a number of different mechanisms of action that decrease peristalsis and fluid secretion, resulting in longer gastrointestinal transit time and increased absorption of fluids and electrolytes from the gastrointestinal tract.

Pharmacokinets

Pharmacokinetics Absorption Plasma concentrations of unchanged drug remain below 2 ng/mL after the intake of a 2 mg capsule of IMODIUM®. Plasma loperamide concentrations are highest approximately 5 hours after administration of the capsule and 2.5 hours after the liquid.

Contra Indications

IMODIUM (loperamide hcl) is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to loperamide hydrochloride or to any of the excipients.

Indications

For the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhoea of any aetiology including acute exacerbations of chronic diarrhoea for periods of up to 5 days in adults and children over 4 years. For the symptomatic treatment of chronic diarrhoea in adults.

Effects Of Missed Dosage

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses

Contact a doctor immediately if an overdose is suspected. Symptoms of overdose may include dizziness, confusion, severe stomach cramps and pain, constipation etc.

Diarrhea can cause water loss and electrolyte imbalance. Drink plenty of fluids to help keep you hydrated.

Consult your doctor if your diarrhea lasts for more than 48 hours.

Do not use Andial Liquid if you have blood in your stool or if you are severely constipated.

Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as Andial Liquid can cause dizziness and sleepiness.
