Aristogyl-F Oral Suspension is a prescription medicine that is to be taken as per the prescription or as suggested by the doctor. It should be taken with food, but it must be taken at a fixed time to ensure better efficacy. Do not consume more than the recommended dose, as this may have harmful effects on your body. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. The treatment must be completed even if you feel better.
Aristogyl-F Oral Suspension may lead to some side effects such as nausea, headaches, dryness of mouth, etc. To overcome any such side effects, it is advised to eat a healthy balanced diet and drink plenty of fluid. Maintaining good oral hygiene can prevent or manage the dryness of the mouth. If any of the side effects get aggravated, contact your doctor immediately. If you experience any allergic reaction (rashes, itching, swelling, shortness of breath, etc.), you must consult your doctor immediately.
Aristogyl-F Oral Suspension is a combination of two antibiotics: Furazolidone and Metronidazole, which treats stomach and intestine infections. Furazolidone works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria in the human body. Metronidazole kills bacteria and other infectious microorganisms by damaging the DNA. Together, they treat your infection effectively.
Furazolidone is rapidly and extensively metabolized; the primary metabolic pathway identified begins with nitro-reduction to the aminofuran derivative. Two major metabolites are produced: 3-amino-2-oxazolidone (AOZ) or beta-hydroxyethylhydrazine (HEH). AOZ is responsible for monoamine oxidase inhibition.The majority of metronidazole and its metabolites are excreted in urine and faeces, with less than 12% excreted unchanged in urine. The pharmacokinetics of metronidazole are unaffected by acute or chronic renal failure, haemodialysis, continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis, age, pregnancy or enteric disease.

Hypersensitivity to Aristogyl-F Oral Suspension is a contraindication. In addition, Aristogyl-F Oral Suspension should not be used if you have the following conditions:
Alcohol intoxication

Infants younger than 1 month of age
Liver disease
Lower seizure threshold
Seizures
Tingling or pain of hands or feet

Consuming alcohol while taking Aristogyl-F Oral Suspension may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart beat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).
Aristogyl-F Oral Suspension is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.

If you miss a dose of Aristogyl-F Oral Suspension, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

No, do not stop taking Aristogyl-F Oral Suspension and complete the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured.
Q. Can the use of Aristogyl-F Oral Suspension cause metallic taste?
Yes, Aristogyl-F Oral Suspension can cause a temporary metallic taste. This metallic taste can be lowered by chewing sugar-free gum, mints and by brushing teeth after the meals.
Q. Can I drink alcohol while taking Aristogyl-F Oral Suspension?
Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Aristogyl-F Oral Suspension and for at least 3 days after stopping the medicine. Drinking alcohol while taking this medicine may cause an unpleasant reaction (Disulfiram-like reaction) with symptoms like stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, headache, flushing or redness of the face.

Keep this medicine in the packet or container it came in, tightly closed. Store it according to the instructions mentioned on the pack or label. Dispose of the unused medicine. Make sure it is not consumed by pets, children and other people.
