Aromasin 25mg tablet is a type of medicine called an aromatase inhibitor. It works by preventing the action of the Aromasin enzyme. This enzyme helps in producing the estrogen hormone in postmenopausal women. Most breast cancers require estrogen to grow (estrogen receptor-positive cancers). Controlling the production of this hormone helps stop the breast cancer cells from growing.
Aromasin 25mg tablets are usually taken once daily, preferably after a meal and at the same time each day. The dose and duration of treatment depend on the condition and response to the treatment. In most cases, the treatment with Aromasin 25mg tablets may be suggested for 2 or 3 years. However, in some cases, the doctor may also recommend taking it for a longer time. Follow the doctor’s instructions and do not stop the medication unless advised otherwise.
This medicine’s most common side effects include hot flushes, increased sweating, insomnia, tiredness, joint pain, headache, increased appetite, and nausea. However, these symptoms may vary from person to person. If they persist or become worrisome, consult the doctor right away. Additionally, Aromasin 25mg tablets may also affect fertility. Talk to your doctor if you have concerns about this. Let the doctor know if you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant, or breastfeeding, as this medicine may cause harmful effects to the developing baby. Use effective contraception while on treatment with this medication.
Before starting treatment with Aromasin 25mg tablets, the doctor may take blood tests to check your vitamin D level or bone density. Let them know if you still have menstrual periods, or have a problem with the liver or kidney. The doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking, as they may make this medicine less effective or change how it works. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine.
Aromasin 25mg tablet is an aromatase inhibitor. It works by lowering estrogen production (natural female hormone) in the body. Cancer cells require estrogen hormone to grow and spread. Halting or controlling the secretion of estrogen, in turn, blocks the growth of some breast cancer cells.
The pharmacokinetics of exemestane are dose proportional after single (10 to 200 mg) or repeated oral doses (0.5 to 50 mg). Following repeated daily doses of exemestane 25 mg, plasma concentrations of unchanged drug are similar to levels measured after a single dose.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you are worried about them.

Q. How do Aromasin 25mg tablet affect my bones? How do I manage it?
Aromasin 25mg tablets can cause bone loss leading to osteoporosis (thinning of bones) as a serious side effect. It decreases the levels of female hormones, which may reduce the mineral content of the bones, causing a significant reduction in bone strength. These lead to an increased risk of bone fractures on long-term use, like hip, wrist, or spine fractures. Inform your doctor if you have osteoporosis or if you are taking corticosteroids (these can increase the risk of osteoporosis) before starting your therapy. Also, get blood tests done to assess your vitamin D levels if you are not sure. Take enough calcium and vitamin D to reduce the risk.
Q. Who should not take Aromasin 25mg tablet?
Aromasin 25mg tablets should be avoided by those allergic to exemestane, an active ingredient of Aromasin 25mg tablets, or any other ingredients. If you have not had your menopause (if you still have your regular monthly periods), are planning a baby, are pregnant, or are breastfeeding, you should refrain from taking Aromasin 25mg tablets.
