Asphyllin Tablet is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

The most common side effects are headache, palpitations, stomach upset, tremor, muscle cramp, and Increased heart rate. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. This medicine can also cause dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can worsen your sleepiness.

Mechanism Of Action

Asphyllin Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Ambroxol and Salbutamol, which relieves cough. Ambroxol and salbutamol. Ambroxol is a mucolytic which thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out. Salbutamol is a bronchodilator which relaxes the muscles in your airways and widens the airways. Together, they make breathing easier.


Pharmacokinets

Ambroxol is used in the treatment of acute and chronic respiratory conditions characterized by abnormal mucus secretion and impaired mucus transport and is available in a variety of formulations.Salbutamol is metabolised almost exclusively by the liver, being converted to salbutamol 4'-O-sulfate. This is then excreted through urination and defecation. After oral inhalation, 80—100% of a dose is excreted via the kidney, whilst 10% may be eliminated in faeces.

Contra Indications

Hypersensitivity to Asphyllin Tablet is a contraindication. In addition, Asphyllin Tablet should not be used if you have the following conditions:

Antepartum haemorrhage

Cardiac disease

Cardiovascular disease

Eclampsia and severe pre-eclampsia intrauterine infection

History of allergy to Ambroxol or Bromhexine

Intrauterine foetal death

Placenta praevia

Effects Of Missed Dosage

If you miss a dose of Asphyllin Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Asphyllin Tablet relieves cough associated with bronchitis, bronchial asthma, emphysema and other broncho-pulmonary disorders.
