Astharid Plus Tablet is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.
The most common side effects are stomach discomfort, tremors, increased heart rate, and palpitations. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. This medicine can also cause sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can make sleepiness worse.
Astharid Plus Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Terbutaline and Ambroxol, which relieves cough. Terbutaline and ambroxol. Terbutaline is a bronchodilator which relaxes muscles in your airways and widens airways. Ambroxol is a mucolytic which thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out. Together, they make breathing easier.
The pharmacokinetics of terbutaline has been studied after subcutaneous adminsitration of a therapeutic dose of 250 microgram in 14 patients. Short absorption half-lives of about 7 min resulted in a fast uptake of the drug.Ambroxol is used in the treatment of acute and chronic respiratory conditions characterized by abnormal mucus secretion and impaired mucus transport and is available in a variety of formulations.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Hypersensitivity to Astharid Plus Tablet is a contraindication. In addition, Astharid Plus Tablet should not be used if you have the following conditions:
History of allergy to Ambroxol or Bromhexine
Hypersensitivity
Astharid Plus Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with Astharid Plus Tablet. Please consult your doctor.

If you use other drugs or over the counter products at the same time, the effects of Astharid Plus Tablet may change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Tell your doctor about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that you doctor can help you prevent or manage drug interactions. Astharid Plus Tablet may interact with the following drugs and products:
Antibiotics
Bendrofluazide
Furosemide
Metipranolol
Pancuronium
Theophylline
Do not chew, crush or break it. Astharid Plus Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Store below 30°C
If you miss a dose of Astharid Plus Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Astharid Plus Tablet relieves cough associated with bronchitis, bronchial asthma, emphysema and other broncho-pulmonary disorders.
It may cause dizziness and sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how it affects you.
If you are diabetic, monitor your blood glucose regularly while taking this medicine.
Inform your doctor if you have a history of thyroid or heart disease.
Stop taking Astharid Plus Tablet and inform your doctor if your cough persists for more than 1 week, tends to recur, or is accompanied by a fever, rash or persistent headache.
