Atminic 2mg Tablet should be taken with or without food. Take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. You should take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you. In case, you missed any doses, take the next dose as soon as you remember it. However, you should never take a double dose.
Sleepiness is the most common side effect of this medicine. Avoid driving or attention-seeking activity. If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them. In some cases, it may also cause dryness of mouth. To prevent dry mouth, drink plenty of water and maintain good oral hygiene.
Before taking this medicine, let your doctor know if you have glaucoma or have any gastro-related issues or have asthma. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, or breastfeeding. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works. Generally, it is advised to avoid alcohol while on treatment.
Dexchlorpheniramine maleate competitively blocks H1 receptors, thereby preventing the actions of histamine on bronchial smooth muscle, capillaries and gastrointestinal (GI) smooth muscle. This prevents histamine-induced bronchoconstriction, vasodilation, increased capillary permeability, and GI smooth muscle spasms.
Dexchlorpheniramine maleate is a first generation antihistamine used to treat allergic and vasomotor rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and mild urticaria and angioedema. Dexchlorpheniramine is the S-enantiomer of chlorpheniramine which is a 1st generation anti-histamine.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them
Common side effects of Atminic
Sleepiness
overactive thyroid gland.
increased pressure in the eye.
closed angle glaucoma.
high blood pressure.
stenosing peptic ulcer.
blockage of the urinary bladder.
enlarged prostate.
an inability to completely empty the bladder.
Atminic 2mg Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.
Atminic 2mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.
Atminic 2mg Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Larger doses or prolonged use of Atminic 2mg Tablet may cause sleepiness and other effects in the baby
Dexchlorpheniramine is an antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of allergy, hay fever, and the common cold. These symptoms may include rash, watery eyes, itchy eyes/nose/throat/skin, cough, runny nose, and sneezing.

Do not chew, crush or break it. Atminic 2mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Store below 30°C
If you miss a dose of Atminic 2mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Consult a doctor before taking any medicines.
Avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery as it may decrease alertness.
Avoid consuming alcohol when taking the Atminic 2mg Tablet, as it may cause excessive sleepiness or drowsiness.
Atminic 2mg Tablet should not be used in children less than 12 years of age.
Patients with other underlying medical conditions must consult their doctor before taking Atminic 2mg Tablet.
Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should not take this medicine unless prescribed by a doctor.
Atminic 2mg Tablet should not be taken by patients taking Monoamine oxidase inhibitors, such as isocarboxazid, phenelzine, tranylcypromine, etc.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Atminic 2mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
