Atorsave D 80 Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Atorvastatin and Vitamin D3 which treat high cholesterol. Atorvastatin is a lipid-lowering medication (statin). It works by blocking an enzyme (HMG-CoA-reductase) that is required in the body to make cholesterol. It thus lowers "bad" cholesterol (LDL), triglycerides and raises "good" cholesterol (HDL). Vitamin D3 is added to relieve the muscular pain caused by Atorvastatin.
Atorvastatin is rapidly absorbed after oral administration with a peak plasma concentration at 1 to 2 hours. The bioavailability is low at 14% due to extensive first-pass metabolism. Atorvastatin is highly plasma protein bound (over 98%) and has a volume of distribution of about 380 liters.Vitamin D3 is transported in the bloodstream bound to a specific plasma protein: vitamin D-binding protein (VDBP). It is taken up within hours following synthesis or dietary uptake to be activated mainly by the liver to 25 (OH)D and, then, mainly by the kidney to 1, 25 (OH) D (calcitriol)
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them
