Mechanism Of Action

Interferon beta balances the expression of pro- and anti-inflammatory agents in the brain, and reduces the number of inflammatory cells that cross the blood brain barrier. Overall, therapy with interferon beta leads to a reduction of neuron inflammation.


Pharmacokinets

Interferon beta-1a is a form of recombinant human interferon used to slow disease progression and reduce the frequency of clinical symptoms in patients who have relapsing multiple sclerosis. Human interferon beta (166 residues), glycosylated, MW=22.5kD.

Benzocaine The metabolism of Benzocaine can be decreased when combined with Interferon beta-1a.

Benzyl alcohol The metabolism of Benzyl alcohol can be decreased when combined with Interferon beta-1a.
