Azithromycin belongs to the class of drugs known as macrolide antibiotics. It works by killing bacteria or preventing their growth. However, this medicine will not work for colds, flu, or other virus infections.

Pharmacokinetics: Following oral administration, azithromycin is rapidly absorbed and widely distributed throughout the body. Rapid distribution of azithromycin into tissues and high concentration within cells result in significantly higher azithromycin concentrations in tissues than in plasma or serum.

Product And Alcohol Interaction

You must avoid consuming alcohol along with Azifine Dt Tablet as alcohol can exaggerate the side effects such as dizziness and drowsiness.


Breast Feeding Related Information

Azithromycin is present in breastmilk in low levels, thus please contact your doctor before using Azifine Dt Tablet while breastfeeding. If prescribed by a doctor, watch out for symptoms like rashes, diarrhoea and sleepiness in the breastfed baby.

Indications

Azithromycin is used to treat certain bacterial infections, such as bronchitis; pneumonia; sexually transmitted diseases (STD); and infections of the ears, lungs, sinuses, skin, throat, and reproductive organs.

Interactions

Azithromycin may interact with other medications a person is taking. For example, using azithromycin while taking nelfinavir, which is a drug that helps treat HIV, can increase the risk of liver abnormalities and hearing problems. Azithromycin can also increase the effects of blood thinners such as warfarin.

Effects Of Missed Dosage

If you missed any dose of Azifine Dt Tablet, then take it as soon as you remember. If it's time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.

Effects Of Overdose

Symptoms of overdose may be diarrhoea, loss of hearing, feeling sick. If you experience any of the symptoms or think you have taken too much of Azifine Dt Tablet, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.


Expert Advice

Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection to come back and harder to treat.

Take it 1 hour before or two hours after food.

Do not take antacids 2 hours before or after taking Azifem 500mg Tablet.Azifine Dt 100mg Tablets.

Diarrhea may occur as a side effect but should stop when your course is complete. Inform your doctor if it doesn't stop or if you find blood in your stools.

Stop taking Azifine Dt 100mg Tablets and inform your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat or tongue or breathing difficulties while taking it.
