Benzydol P 1.5mg Tablet can also be used for treating psychosis, mania, severe behavior problems in adults and children. It may be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. Take it at the same time each day as this helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor and if you have missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember it. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. This medication mustn't be stopped suddenly without talking to your doctor as it may worsen your symptoms.
It is used in the treatment of Schizophrenia or psychosis and Tourette Syndrome. Benzydol P 1.5mg Tablet contains 'Haloperidol', which is a typical antipsychotic drug. It works by blocking the action of dopamine, a chemical messenger in the brain that affects thoughts and mood.
Haloperidol undergoes extensive metabolism in the liver, with only around 1% of the drug originally administered being excreted in the urine unchanged. The main mode of hepatic clearance is through glucuronidation, reduction and oxidation mediated by CYP3A4.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Before taking it, inform your doctor if you are suffering from thyroid or kidney problems, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, glaucoma, or any heart problems. You should not take this medicine if you are under the influence of alcohol or any sleep-inducing, cough, and/ or allergy medication.
Benzydol P 1.5mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
Benzydol P 1.5mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.
Use with caution
Benzydol P 1.5mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
If Benzydol P 1.5mg Tablet is used, monitor the baby for excessive sleepiness.
BENZYDOL P 1.5MG TABLET belongs to a group of medications called 'antipsychotics'. It is used in the treatment of Schizophrenia or psychosis and Tourette Syndrome. Schizophrenia is characterized by hallucinations symptoms (seeing or hearing things that are not real) and delusions (wrong beliefs).
Drug-drug interactions: BENZYDOL P 1.5MG TABLET may interact with some medications, including antidepressants (citalopram, escitalopram, bupropion), medicines for Parkinson's disease (levodopa), antiepileptic ( carbamazepine, phenobarbital), medicines control heartbeat ( amiodarone, disopyramide, quinidine), medicines
Do not chew, crush or break it. Benzydol P 1.5mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Store below 30°C
if you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses
Benzydol P 1.5mg Tablet helps treat schizophrenia.
It is less likely to cause weight gain as compared to other similar medicines.
Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as Benzydol P 1.5mg Tablet may cause dizziness and sleepiness.
Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can cause increased dizziness.
Inform your doctor if you experience any abnormal movements or have difficulty controlling movements.
It may affect how your body regulates your temperature. Avoid getting dehydrated and drink plenty of fluids.
Your doctor may check your heart function and level of electrolytes such as sodium and magnesium before you start treatment with this medicine and regularly thereafter.
Do not stop taking Benzydol P 1.5mg Tablet without talking to your doctor first as it may cause worsening of symptoms.
