Betnovate-C Cream is only meant for external use and should be used as advised by your doctor. A thin layer of the medicine should be applied only to the affected areas of the skin with clean and dry hands. If it gets into your eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina rinse with water. It may take several days to weeks for your symptoms to improve, but you should keep using this medicine regularly. The course of the treatment should be completed to ensure better efficacy of the medicine. If your condition does not improve or gets worse, you should talk to your doctor.
Betamethasone is a steroid used for application on the skin. It reduces the inflammation, swelling and redness of the skin by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers called prostaglandi... Clioquinol reduces skin infections caused by bacteria.
Betamethasone phosphate disappeared rapidly from plasma (mean half-life = 4.7 min) as betamethasone levels rose. Betamethasone plasma levels reached a peak 10-36 min after administration of the phosphate before declining in a biexponential manner. The terminal slow disposition phase had a mean half-life of 6.5 h.In hamsters, clioquinol is rapidly absorbed after a single intraperitoneal (i.p.) injection and after oral (p.o.) dosing: peak plasma concentrations are reached after 30 min, and the drug's apparent elimination half-life is about 2 h.

If you miss a dose of Betnovate-C Cream, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

It may cause minor burning, stinging, or irritation when applied. Inform your doctor if this does not go away.
Do not cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects.
If you think the area of skin you are treating has become more irritated and infected, you should stop using Betnovate-C Cream and consult your doctor.
Avoid contact with your eyes, nose or mouth. Rinse it off with water if you accidentally get the cream in these areas.
Don't use this medicine more often or for longer than advised by your doctor. Inform your doctor if the treated skin area does not improve after 1 week of treatment.

Do not use Betnovate-C Cream for longer periods of time than advised especially on the face as it may cause thinning of the skin. If it has to be applied over the eyelids, make sure it does not get into your eyes. Unless told by your doctor, do not apply a bandage or dressing to the area being treated, as this will increase absorption of the preparation and increase the risk of side-effects. This medicine should only be used by the patient and never be given to other people even if their condition appears to be the same.
Q. What would happen if I use a higher than the recommended dose of Betnovate-C Cream and for long periods?
The dosage and duration of using Betnovate-C Cream should be strictly according to the doctor’s advice. This medicine when used in higher doses and for longer periods can get absorbed in the blood and cause adrenal suppression and Cushing's syndrome. It can cause weight gain, high blood pressure and rounding of the face. Its application can cause a change in color of skin at the site of application. Veins beneath the skin become visible because of the thinning and weakening of the skin. There could also be an increased hair growth. If you experience an increased severity of your symptoms, please consult your doctor for re-evaluation.
Q. Can I stop taking Betnovate-C Cream when my symptoms are relieved?
No, do not stop using Betnovate-C Cream and complete the full course of treatment, even if you feel better. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured.

Keep this medicine in the container or the pack it came in, tightly closed. Store it according to the instructions mentioned on the pack or label. Dispose of the unused medicine. Make sure it is not consumed by pets, children and other people.
