Biodronate 60 Injection is given by a doctor or nurse. You will not need to do this yourself. How much you are given, and how often, will be decided by your doctor. It may just be a single injection but if you are being treated for bone problems caused by the spread of cancer you may need regular injections. Your doctor will ask you to drink plenty of water before the injection, to avoid getting dehydrated. It may take several days to get the full benefit of this drug. Biodronate 60 Injection is only part of a program of treatment that may also include changes to your diet and taking calcium and vitamin supplements.
Biodronate 60mg Injection works by forming a strong bond with calcium phosphate crystals of the bone and slows down the rate of formation and dissolution of the bone components. This Injection is beneficial for preventing bone resorption and inhibiting osteoclast activity.
Pamidronate is exclusively eliminated in the urine. By 120 hours after administration, 46±16% of the dose has been eliminated in the urine. The mean elimination half life of pamidronate is 28±7 hours. The mean total clearance of pamidronate is 107±50mL/min and the mean renal clearance is 49±28mL/min.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Consuming alcohol with Biodronate 60 Injection does not cause any harmful side effects.
Biodronate 60 Injection should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.
If you are taking Biodronate 60 Injection during breastfeeding, monitor the baby's blood calcium levels during the first two months.

Pamidronate is indicated to treat moderate to severe hypercalcemia of malignancy, moderate to severe Paget's disease of bone, osteolytic bone metastases of breast cancer, and osteolytic lesions of multiple myeloma.
If you use other drugs or over the counter products at the same time, the effects of Biodronate Injection may change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Tell your doctor about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that you doctor can help you prevent or manage drug interactions. Biodronate Injection may interact with the following drugs and products:

If you miss a dose of Biodronate 60 Injection, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

It is given by injection into a vein, usually over at least 15 minutes or as directed by your doctor.
Drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration and kidney damage.
It can lower the level of calcium in the blood. Take calcium and vitamin D supplements as suggested by your doctor.
You may develop fever or flu like symptoms, such as chills, tiredness and weakness. These are usually temporary and should go away after a few days. You may take a pain reliever/fever reducer to prevent or treat these symptoms.
It may cause a rare condition called osteonecrosis of the jaw. Have regular dental check-ups and inform your doctor if you develop sudden pain in your jaw.
Your doctor will monitor your response to Biodronate 60 Injection by testing your bone mineral density (BMD). This is usually done every 1-3 years.
Do not take it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Biodronate 60 Injection is a bisphosphonate. It acts by suppressing the activity of osteoclasts, cells that cause the destruction of bone, thereby strengthening the bones and minimizing the risk of fractures.

This is because traces of Biodronate 60 Injection stays in the bones for long periods of time and may be released during this time which can cause harm to the baby.
