Biosev C 800mg Tablet is used to treat increased phosphate levels in the blood. It is used in patients who are on dialysis due to severe kidney disease. It inhibits the absorption of phosphate from the intestine and lowers the phosphate levels in the blood.
Sevelamer prevents hyperphosphatemia by binding to dietary phosphate in the gut, preventing its absorption and thus decreasing serum parathyroid hormone levels. Not absorbed following oral administration, however no absorption studies have been performed in patients with renal disease.

Sevelamer is indicated for the control of serum phosphorus in adults and children 6 years of age and older with chronic kidney disease (CKD) on dialysis. Starting Dose for Adult Patients Not Taking a Phosphate Binder.
SEVELAMER interact with antibiotics (ciprofloxacin), immunosuppressive agents (mycophenolate), thyroid medications (levothyroxine), and medication is used to treat bladder cancer (erdafitinib).

These increased serum phosphate levels are reduced by Biosev C 800mg Tablet, as it binds phosphate from food in the digestive tract.

A common side effect of Biosev C 800mg Tablet is constipation, though it does not occur in everyone. The other common side effects of the stomach and intestine include diarrhea, indigestion, flatulence, and pain in the abdomen. Immediately consult your doctor if these side effects become severe and disturb you.
Q. Who should not take Biosev C 800mg Tablet?
Patients who are allergic to Biosev C 800mg Tablet and who have low levels of phosphate in blood should avoid taking Biosev C 800mg Tablet. Additionally, patients having intestinal obstruction should also avoid using Biosev C 800mg Tablet.
Q. Can I take ciprofloxacin while I am taking Biosev C 800mg Tablet?
Ciprofloxacin may interfere with the working of Biosev C 800mg Tablet and therefore it should not be taken at the same time as Biosev C 800mg Tablet. However, if taken together then a gap of at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after taking Biosev C 800mg Tablet should be maintained.
Q. How long do I need to take Biosev C 800mg Tablet?
Continue taking Biosev C 800mg Tablet as long as recommended by your doctor. Biosev C 800mg Tablet lowers your dietary phosphate levels but does not cure your disease. Hence, you may have to take it lifelong, as stopping Biosev C 800mg Tablet may increase your phosphate levels.
