Biospan 10mg Tablet should be taken on an empty stomach or at least 30-60 minutes before a meal. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. This medicine should be taken at the same time each day to get the maximum benefit. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you are also prescribed with antacids, then maintain a gap of at least 1 hour between two medicines.
Biospan 10mg Tablet is an anti-muscarinic. It works by decreasing the stomach secretions such as mucus and acids to relax the gut muscles. By doing this, it relieves abdominal cramps and pain.
Hyoscyamine is an anticholinergic indicated to treat functional gastrointestinal disorders, biliary and renal colic, and acute rhinitis. Hyoscyamine is a tropane alkaloid and the levo-isomer of atropine. It is commonly extracted from plants in the Solanaceae or nightshade family.
Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Biospan 10mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness with alcohol.
Biospan 10mg Tablet should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.

Hyoscyamine is indicated along with morphine or other narcotics in symptomatic relief of biliary and renal colic; as a “drying agent” in the relief of symptoms of acute rhinitis; in the therapy of parkinsonism to reduce rigidity and tremors and to control associated sialorrhea and hyperhidrosis.
If you use other drugs or over the counter products at the same time, the effects of Biospan Tablet may change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Tell your doctor about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that you doctor can help you prevent or manage drug interactions. Biospan Tablet may interact with the following drugs and products:
Potassium chloride
Potassium citrate
Sodium chloride
Topiramate
Zonisamide

If you miss a dose of Biospan 10mg Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

Before taking Biospan 10mg Tablet, inform your doctor if you have urination problems, an enlarged prostate, a stomach or bowel obstruction (including paralytic ileus), GERD, or severe ulcerative colitis.
Avoid taking antacids at the same time you take Biospan 10mg Tablet. Antacids can make it harder for your body to absorb Biospan 10mg Tablet. If you use an antacid, take it after 2 hours of taking Biospan 10mg Tablet.
Avoid becoming overheated or dehydrated during exercise and in hot weather. Biospan 10mg Tablet can decrease sweating and you may be more prone to heatstroke.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
It may not be safe to breastfeed while using this medicine. Ask your doctor about any risk.

Hyoscyamine has no known harmful interaction with active ingredients in Benadryl, Xanax (alprazolam), Prevacid (lansoprazole), omeprazole, ibuprofen, Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Aleve (naproxen). Please inform your doctor about all medication you are currently taking to avoid any harmful drug interaction
Q. Can I take Imodium/ Bentyl/ Percocet with Biospan 10mg Tablet?
Concomitant use of Biospan 10mg Tablet with Imodium (loperamide), Bentyl (dicyclomine) and Percocet (acetaminophen + oxycodone) can cause harmful drug interactions and should be avoided. Please inform your doctor about all medication you are currently taking to avoid any harmful drug interaction
Q. Does Biospan 10mg Tablet cause or stop diarrhea?
Treatment with Biospan 10mg Tablet may be helpful in controlling diarrhea associated with bowel spams; however, it can aggravate constipation. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience diarrhea as a side effect of Biospan 10mg Tablet treatment
Q. Does Biospan 10mg Tablet help with gas/ nausea?
Biospan 10mg Tablet may provide relief from gas or nausea if they are symptoms of intestinal bowel syndrome or other gastrointestinal problems for which Biospan 10mg Tablet is given as a treatment. Nausea is also a common side effect of Biospan 10mg Tablet treatment
