Mechanism Of Action

It works by blocking the release of chemicals (prostaglandins) that are respons. It also acts as a local anaesthetic, causing numbness and so pain relief at the site of application.

Pharmacokinets

Oral doses of benzydamine are apparently well absorbed and plasma drug concentrations reach a peak fairly rapidly (e.g. 0.8 micrograms/ml after a 100-mg dose) and then decline with a half-life of about 13 h. Less than 20% of the drug is bound to plasma proteins.

Contra Indications

Do not take BENZYDAMINE if you are allergic to BENZYDAMINE, its ingredients, pain killers (NSAIDs) or local anesthetics. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you notice any skin rash or experience asthma, it could be due to an allergic reaction. Do not use the BENZYDAMINE mouthwash continuously for more than 7 days unless prescribed by your doctor or dentist. It is not recommended for use in children. Drink a small portion of water after small intervals to avoid dry mouth. Preferably eat sugar-free chew gums to keep mouth and throat moist. Stop. wearing your dentures if you have sores in the mouth or gums.

Benzydamine is a locally-acting NSAID indicated for the symptomatic relief of pain in acute sore throat and for the symptomatic relief of oropharyngeal mucositis caused by radiation therapy.

BENZYDAMINE have interactions with medicines to treat alcohol addiction (disulfiram), to asthma (theophylline, salbutamol), pain-killers (naproxen, ibuprofen).

Typical Dosage

Take the mouthwash in the quantity as advised by your doctor and put it in your mouth. Swish for 30 seconds to 1 minute and spit it. Do not swallow. Avoid eating, drinking, or smoking for at least 30 minutes after rinsing.

Biqol Mouth Wash Alcohol Free is used to relieve pain and inflammation (redness and swelling) of mouth, gums, and throat.
