The active ingredient nimesulide blocks a pathway that produces a chemical substance known as prostaglandin that is responsible for the feeling of painful inflammation and other inflammatory reactions.

Nimesulide is rapidly distributed and has an apparent volume of distribution ranging between 0.18 and 0.39 L/kg. It is extensively bound to albumin; the unbound fraction in plasma was 1%. The unbound fraction increased to 2 and 4% in patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency.

Blisulide 100mg Tablet is used to treat acute pain, painful osteoarthritis (degeneration of joints) and primary dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation) in adolescents and adults above 12 years old.

NIMESULIDE is shown to interact with respiratory medicines (theophylline), blood thinners (warfarin), antidiabetics including insulin, anti-epileptics (phenytoin), anti-arthritis or anti-cancer agents (methotrexate), immune system affecting medicines (cyclosporine), antacids, and anti-HIV (didanosine).
