Give Bromolin 125 mg/4 mg Tablet DT either with or without food, preferably at a fixed time. Taking it with food may prevent the risk of a stomach upset. It is usually given three times a day but this may vary depending on the type and severity of the infection and your child’s body weight and age. Stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking the medicine, repeat the dose when your child feels better. However, do not double the dose if it is the time for the next dose.
Bromolin 125 mg/4 mg Tablet DT is a mixture of two medicines, Amoxicillin and Bromhexine. Amoxicillin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by preventing the formation of the protective covering of bacteria. Bromhexine is a mucolytic agent that helps thin and loosen mucus (phlegm),
The half-life of amoxicillin is 61.3 minutes. Approximately 60% of an orally administered dose of amoxicillin is excreted in the urine within 6 to 8 hours. Detectable serum levels are observed up to 8 hours after an orally administered dose of amoxicillin.Bromhexine hydrochloride is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and undergoes extensive first-pass metabolism in the liver. Its oral bioavailability is stated to be only about 20%. It is widely distributed to body tissues and is highly bound to plasma proteins.
Bromolin 125 mg/4 mg Tablet DT does not pose serious side effects and is well-tolerated by children. In case the side effects do occur, they’re likely to subside once the body adapts to the medicine. Consult your child’s doctor if these side effects persist or bother your child. The most common side effects include-

Amoxycillin+Bromhexine is used in the treatment of respiratory tract infection. Amoxycillin + Bromhexine is a combination of two medicines: Amoxycillin and Bromhexine which treat respiratory tract infections associated with excessive mucus (phlegm).
If you use other drugs or over the counter products at the same time, the effects of Bromolin DT Tablet may change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Tell your doctor about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that you doctor can help you prevent or manage drug interactions. Bromolin DT Tablet may interact with the following drugs and products:
Chloramphenicol
Macrolides
Probenecid
Sulfonamides
Tetracyclines
Duration as advised by your doctor. Dissolve it in a glass of water before taking it. Bromolin 125 mg/4 mg Tablet DT is to be taken with food.

Unless your child’s doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, you can give the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it’s almost time for the next dose. Do not give a double dose to catch up and follow the prescribed dosing schedule.
Consult a doctor before taking any medicines.
Complete the entire course of antibiotics without stopping the medicine in between. Stopping the medicine abruptly may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
Make sure your child drinks plenty of water if they develop diarrhea as a side effect.
Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions.
Give Bromolin 125 mg/4 mg Tablet DT to your child only for their current infection. Avoid storing the medicine for future use as the effect of the medicine for any future illnesses cannot be stated beforehand.
Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child’s doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.

Q. Can I give Bromolin 125 mg/4 mg Tablet DT to my child repeatedly for a long time?
Long-term use of Bromolin 125 mg/4 mg Tablet DT can cause fungal infection (oral thrush) in the mouth and severe stomach infections (superinfections). Therefore, do not alter the dose and duration on your own. Strictly adhere to the prescribed dose and consult the doctor if not sure, do not self judge a situation. Additionally, it is important to know that irregular treatment, repeated use, and misuse of Bromolin 125 mg/4 mg Tablet DT can make the bacteria resistant, affecting the future course of treatment.
Q. Are there any possible serious side effects of Bromolin 125 mg/4 mg Tablet DT?
Although rare, Bromolin 125 mg/4 mg Tablet DT may cause some serious side effects such as persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergy, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. Therefore, if your child experiences any such unwanted effects, consult your child’s doctor at the earliest.
Q. Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Bromolin 125 mg/4 mg Tablet DT ?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
Q. The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Change in the color and consistency of mucus in common cold is normal. This does not mean that your child needs antibiotics. Common cold symptoms often last for 7-10 days. In case the symptoms fail to clear up within this duration, reach out to your child’s doctor for guidance.
Q. Is Bromolin 125 mg/4 mg Tablet DT safe for children suffering from infectious mononucleosis?
No, do not give this medicine to your child in this case. Reports suggest that a high percentage of children with infectious mononucleosis develop a skin rash (erythematous rash) while taking Bromolin 125 mg/4 mg Tablet DT.
