Basic Information

Mechanism Of Action

Bronko Plus 2mg/100mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Salbutamol and theophylline. It works by relaxing the muscles in the airways and widens the airways.

Pharmacokinets

Salbutamol is metabolised almost exclusively by the liver, being converted to salbutamol 4'-O-sulfate. This is then excreted through urination and defecation. After oral inhalation, 80—100% of a dose is excreted via the kidney, whilst 10% may be eliminated in faeces. An average 96% (range 75 to 105%) of an uncoated theophylline tablet is absorbed, with peak concentrations occurring from 0.5 to 2.0h. Enteric coated and many sustained release preparations have poor bioavailability. Intravenous preparations of aminophylline contain from 75 to 85% theophylline by weight.
