Cadex Syrup gives relief from cough by loosening thick mucus and making it easier to cough it out. It also makes it easier for air to move in and out of your airways. This reduces the frequency of coughing and makes you feel better. Take it as prescribed by the doctor.

Pharmacokinets

Bromhexine hydrochloride is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and undergoes extensive first-pass metabolism in the liver. Its oral bioavailability is stated to be only about 20%. It is widely distributed to body tissues and is highly bound to plasma proteins,Dextromethorphan is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and converted into the active metabolite dextrorphan in the liver by the cytochrome P450 enzyme CYP2D6. The average dose necessary for effective antitussive therapy is between 10 and 45 mg, depending on the individual,Ammonium chloride increases acidity by increasing the amount of hydrogen ion concentrations. Ammonium chloride can be used as an expectorant due to its irritative action on the bronchial mucosa. This effect causes the production of respiratory tract fluid which in order facilitates the effective cough.

Contra Indications

Hypersensitivity to Cadex Syrup is a contraindication. In addition, Cadex Syrup should not be used if you have the following conditions:

Concomitant use with a monoamine oxidase inhibitor

Hypersensitivity

Metabolic alkalosis with loss of sodium bicarbonate

Severe liver impairment

Severe renal impairment

Use within 2 weeks of discontinuing a monoamine oxidase inhibitor

Indications

Bromhexine+Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide+Ammonium Chloride is used in the treatment of cough. Bromhexine, dextromethorphan and ammonium chloride which relieve dry cough. Bromhexine is a mucolytic which thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out.

If you use other drugs or over the counter products at the same time, the effects of Cadex Syrup may change. This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Tell your doctor about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that you doctor can help you prevent or manage drug interactions. Cadex Syrup may interact with the following drugs and products:

Alcohol

Amiodarone

Cough and cold medicines

Haloperidol

Methadone

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors

Propafenone

Quinidine

Thioridazine

Effects Of Missed Dosage

If you miss a dose of Cadex Syrup, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
